Clock icon 2 minutes reading time

Here at CDS, we’re incredibly proud of our 170-strong team – after all, they’re the ones who make all the comms magic happen.

That’s why, every month, we’re giving our blog readers a chance to get to know each member of the CDS family in our employee Q&A series.

Next up in the hot seat is our head of content services, Anna Sampson. With just 10 minutes on the clock, let’s go…

1. Sum up your role at CDS in one sentence:

I lead CDS’ team of artworkers, designers, and editors – our services include film, animation, design for digital and print content, copywriting, and proofreading.

2. What’s your favourite thing about your job?

3. How did you become head of content services?

Upon graduating, I studied product design at Loughborough University and worked in creative design roles, both agency-side and in-house. I then moved into the world of communications and digital content, and most recently, I spent three years as head of content at Saint-Gobain before joining CDS in March 2022.

4. What drew you towards choosing CDS as an employer?

When I saw the job description, it perfectly mirrored not only my experience but my interests and expertise. I also researched the company before applying for the role, and CDS’ values and client base really struck a chord with me.

5. Describe the CDS ethos in just three words:

Open-minded, inclusive approach.

6. What’s been your favourite project so far, and why?

A recent local authority project has been a real highlight, as it’s one I’ve been involved in from the initial proposal stage through to winning and delivering the work.

It’s also a fantastic project as it spans many departments within CDS, including user research and insight, user experience design, content, and digital development – we’ve all shared a collective excitement seeing the project come to life.

7. And, which brand would you love to work on a content project with?

At CDS, we aim to make a positive difference, so I’d love to work with any brand with a charitable focus.

8. Complete this sentence: For businesses, employing an effective content strategy means…

Understanding the end user and making sure that you communicate through the right channels to meet the audience’s needs.

9. For a bit of fun, if CDS were a variety of biscuit, which would it be and why?

A chocolate digestive – apart from being the best biscuit, it’s both resilient and unique.

10.Finally, if you could give one piece of advice to your 10-year-old self, what would it be?

Trust your instincts – your ‘gut feel’ is usually right.
