On your marks, get set, go… The official ‘Tour de CDS’ has begun.

Kicking off the three-week, company-wide competition, 49 of our colleagues, in seven teams of seven, (virtually) set off to travel the distance between all 8 of our offices. The purpose is to raise funds for cancer charity, Candlelighters.

The race began from our London office, and the route then takes in each of our offices (Middlesex University, Aylesbury, Cheltenham, University of Essex, Norwich and Leeds) before crossing the Irish Sea to finish in Belfast meaning each team will cover a total of 804.1miles.

Each participant has chosen to race in one of four ways: cycling, walking, running, or rowing (indoors or outdoors). The fundraisers will also be recording their distances and submitting them to see who tops the leader board each week. The first team to complete the mileage will take first place on the (virtual) podium and win a prize.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! There’s also a reward for the person who completes the most miles in their chosen mode of transport. Nothing beats a bit of healthy competition!

The race, which began on Saturday 27th Feb, will finish at 5pm on Friday 19th March, and we’re excited to see how much money the team will raise for our nominated cause of 2021, children’s cancer support charity, Candlelighters.

We’ve set a target to raise £2,000 throughout the tournament and we’re already halfway there. If you’d like to donate to this great cause – all pennies and pounds welcome – please visit our JustGiving page here.
