Harriet Oliver, a Senior Lecturer in Nursing, contacted CDS’ in-house print-room services at the university for a ‘Thank you badge’ for these groups to show support for their efforts in saving lives and protecting the public during the pandemic.
CDS supported Harriet on the project, resulting in a wonderful example of a collaborative community-led effort at Middlesex University.
Harriet said: “CDS offered their support and were amazing at offering advice and their time to support a project that was a lot larger than any of us realised when we started. A big thank you to their team for their patience and hard work as well as the Middlesex admin team, who spent many hours working behind the scenes.”
During the pandemic, Harriet volunteered to return to clinical nursing and worked alongside pre and post registered nursing students, who amazed and inspired her with their strength and resilience in such a difficult time.
Harriet also said: “I just wanted to say that I have had some messages of thanks already from the nurses, who were really moved and quite emotional at receiving the badges, which we have kept a surprise from them. Members of the teaching team, who are also students, commented on how much the badges meant to them. So a big well done to everyone.”
Since the start of the pandemic, Middlesex University has stepped up to help fight a pandemic on a scale that modern society has never had to deal with before. These efforts include winning more than £650,000 in UKRI Covid response funding for lung monitoring device trial and being nominated for the UK Business Heroes campaign for vital COVID-19 pandemic research and community work.
